Rhodes 5 & 10 in Bethany Beach, Delaware

Outlets and Other Beach Shopping

Serious shoppers won't wait for a rainy day before they hit the outlets in Rehoboth on Rte 1. Find great deals on quality name brand merchandise at more than a hundred stores. For a more unique experience, stroll up and down the avenue and side streets in Bethany for everything from hermit crabs to boutique fashions to tee-shirts and discount books. Be sure to visit Rhodes 5 & 10, one of the original Bethany stores, for a nostalgic 50s experience. Nibble on a bucket of DeBie's fresh cut beach fries and take home some Fisher's caramel popcorn. You'll also find more antique shops
and art galleries as you head west on Rte 26.

Rehoboth Avenue also offers hundreds of unique boutiques, art galleries, jewelry shops, and blown glass and craft shops mixed in with the usual beach and souvenir shops. Duck down alleys turned into mini malls, such as Penny Lane, and discover an eclectic mixture of quality shops and restaurants where you can relax with a cup of java or listen to live music over a pint of locally brewed Dogfish Head beer.
The only thing you'll wish for is more time.

If you're into surf shops, you've come to the right place. Some of the most popular are the Bethany Beach Surf Shop and Breakers in Bethany, the Dewey Beach Surf Shop, and East of Maui in Rehoboth. Rentals and lessons are available.

Quilters will rejoice at the selection of fabrics
at Mare's Bears quilt shop on Savannah Road in Lewes, over the drawbridge in the Beacon Motel.

For grocery shopping, we suggest the G&E, about 10 minutes away in Bethany. Head south on the Beach Highway, turn right at Fred Hudson Rd. and turn right onto Rte. 26. G&E will be on the left. In the same area, you'll find Hickman's liquor store, as well as Tom & Terry's fresh seafood shop. For organic food, head west on Rte. 26 to shop at Good Earth Market in Clarksville. You'll also see roadside vegetable stands on Rte. 26.

If possible, you might want to avoid shopping on Saturday
when crowds of people are stocking up for the week.
